Founder of Pushy — Shopify inventory automation

I build Pushy, a Shopify app that automatically pushes out-of-stock products to the bottom of collection pages and restores their position when they come back in stock. It runs on 250+ Shopify stores and manages over 5 million products.

Why I built Pushy

Shopify has no built-in way to sort a collection by inventory status. That leaves merchants re-ordering products by hand, hacking their theme's Liquid, or hiding sold-out products altogether. Hiding them throws away the URLs and ranking those products already earned.

Working with store owners, I kept seeing the same thing: collection pages leading with items nobody could buy. Pushy sorts at the Shopify API level instead of in the theme, so the ordering holds across the storefront, the admin, pagination, and any other channel reading collection data. Nothing is ever hidden or deleted.

What I write about here

Most of what I publish comes out of questions merchants actually ask me: how stockouts affect search visibility, when to hide a product versus re-order it, how Shopify's collection sorting behaves, and how the apps in this category differ. I also track Shopify and search-industry news where it changes what merchants should do about product availability.

Where I make a claim about how Shopify behaves, it comes from building against its API and watching it run on production stores.
